We Have a Winner
Yesterday, the first major piece of DLC for Borderlands 3 went live. Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is exactly what it sounds like. Leftover from Handsome Jack’s reign of terror, the Handsome Jackpot is a casino-space station made for taking its patrons for all their worth, and then some. Now that Handsome Jack is dead, Moxxi wants to take it for herself. A place such as the Handsome Jackpot attracts all sorts of nefarious types and the Vault Hunters have to take them out of the picture.
Since Jack is all about himself, naturally the area is full of statues of him. This DLC is sure to appease all the fans who just can’t move on from him. Though all the areas have fallen to disrepair since Jack’s death, the DLC captures the casino/luxury/VIP style, like a high-end resort. Your ol’ pal Zane played a couple of hours of it last night and you can bet it’s what I’ll be playing later. Most of the lootables are gambling machines that spit out cash and there are slot machines all over the place, like the ones you find in Moxxi’s bar on Sanctuary III. There are also special chests with a built in Blackjack mini-game. Just like the card game, you can keep hitting until you hit 21 or bust. If you hit 21, you get an Achievement/Trophy and premium loot. If you bust, you get grenades!
Unlike the previous Bloody Harvest update, this DLC can be accessed anytime after progressing to Episode 6 of the story. And unlike the Takedown at the Maliwan’s Blacksite, this DLC isn’t free, but if you have bought the season pass or have the Super Deluxe Edition of Borderlands 3, you can download it for free. Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Stadia.
