The Latest Free Epic Games Store Game Is a Cartoonish Horror Game
Indie horror game Hello Neighbor is currently free for Epic Games Store users until December 31st at 11 AM EST/2 PM PST. After which, this year’s final free EGS Holiday Sale game will be revealed.
Hello Neighbor tasks players with breaking into the home of a suspicious neighbor in order to find out what’s going on in his basement. There are multiple ways to sneak into the home but the neighbor has adaptive A.I. so a tactic that worked the first time might not work again.
Certainly sounds interesting but is this game worth your time even if it’s for free? Well, according our review of the game on Xbox One, maybe not.
“I want to like Hello Neighbor, I really do. I love the idea of a Rear Window-type video game, constantly pressured by an antagonist that could upend everything I’d done in an instant,” the reviewer wrote. “This game is not what I had envisioned, instead giving me wonky tech and an adversary who’s about as frightening as Barney the Dinosaur when all is said and done.”
