With Green Hell Releasing on PC, Consoles Are Next
During a recent interview, Creepy Jar CEO Krzysztof Kwiatek revealed new details about Green Hell, including an upcoming console release. The survival title apparently wouldn’t be what it is today on PC if not for Steam early access and it looks like the PC community helped shape an upcoming console port as well. The Forest’s Steam Early Access and developer dialogue with their community apparently showed Creepy Jar the right direction to go with releasing the game in early access, while Forever Entertainment has extensive experience in customizing games for Switch and are already developing the survival title on the Nintendo hybrid console. The console port of the game has no official release date yet but it will come to Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
Creepy Jar isn’t thinking about a sequel yet and are instead focusing on free DLC with a co-op mode being the top priority. The team wants to continue delivering fresh survival experiences in their Amazon rainforest setting without changing their focus to a brand new title as further additions and updates depend on their ideas, resources and the suggestions from Green Hell’s community. So far, the longest survival time Creepy Jar has observed from their community is 300 in game days which spans across a rainy season and a dry season. Each season presents its own unique challenges to gamers as the landscape changes. Are you curious what we thought about Green Hell? Check out our review here!

“In the Amazon rainforest, everything can kill you: drinking dirty water, sleeping on the ground, walking through bushes,” said Krzysztof Kwiatek. “We designed the game to be as physical as possible with your notebook, maps, and even your own body being able to be inspected closely. This feature not only makes our game interesting, but incomparable to anything else out there in the genre… we took notice that both physical and mental health are strongly connected to each other. With low mental health, your body is weaker and the healing process is slower. Low health, wounds, worms under your skin, etc. can drive you crazy. We felt that one condition almost couldn’t exist without the other, and only by having both mental and physical health to take care of would players feel the realism of Green Hell.”
