Obsidian Entertainment is Hosting a Twitch Plays Stream of The Outer Worlds
Obsidian Entertainment will be hosting a Twitch Plays livestream of The Outer Worlds on October 22nd, allowing gamers to collectively explore the galaxy. Gamers will get an early first-hand glimpse of the upcoming RPG while trying to coordinate and play it with others. Twitch Plays is a type of stream where the viewers input commands in the stream chat, with the commands being transferred to the game (usually on a slight delay). The upcoming The Outer Worlds livestream will be held on Obsidian Entertainment’s official Twitch channel while the game releases on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4, the Nintendo Switch and PC.
Obsidian Entertainment noted that this livestream is the first time that a Twitch Plays stream will be done for an unreleased game, making it both a great pre-launch experience for players to check out the game before release and an intriguing social experiment. The Twitch Plays concept gained widespread popularity with the “Twitch Plays Pokemon” series in which the chat dictated the pace of each Pokemon title.
The Outer Worlds will be part of Xbox and PC Game Pass on launch, allowing subscirbers to immediately get into the latest expansive open world RPG by Obsidian Entertainment. The company recently showed off one of the primary planets in The Outer Worlds: Halcyon, offering animals to hunt, restaurants to eat at, bandits to fight, quests to take on, and companions to meet. We’ve seen a few glimpses of planets in this reveal and the trailer but we’re excited to actually explore the galaxy Obsidian has created and until then, we’ll be having fun with Twitch Plays.
What’s your favorite Obsidian Entertainment game and are you looking forward to The Outer Worlds coming out later this month? Will you be participating in this Twitch plays event on their official Twitch channel? Let us know in the comments below!
