Battlefield 6 Is Apparently a Long Way off From Its Release

EA Has Confirmed It’s Going to Be a While Until Battlefield 6 Arrives

Fans are going to have to wait quite a long time before the next Battlefield title is released. According to EA’s most recent financial earnings call the publisher isn’t looking at dropping Battlefield 6 until well over a year from now at the earliest.

If you’re a fan of the Battlefield series, you might have been bummed out when a new game wasn’t announced this year. It turns out that you shouldn’t hold your breath for a brand new game in the series soon. As Blake Jorensen confirmed, it’s going to be at least April 2021 at the earliest! Here’s what he had to say about Battlefield 6, “Targeting new innovation that will be enabled by next-gen platforms and a growing install base on the new consoles, our next Battlefield game is set for FY22.”

So what’s the reasoning behind this aside from a larger install base and new gen graphics? As we found out in the financial results and remarks they’re going to be focusing more on their sports games and live services, as well as developing a couple more titles. That doesn’t mean all hope is lost for the Battlefield franchise however. According to Jorgensen EA is planning on keeping up the support for Battlefield V. “Our Battlefield franchise and its community are also a major focus for us, and we’ll add new content and new ways to play Battlefield V in FY21.” For now fans of the series can jump into a brand new chapter of content, War in the Pacific, beginning on Halloween.

Though the earliest release we can expect is April 2021, Fiscal 2022 ends in March 2022. If EA and DICE follow their previous pattern of Battlefield game releases, it’s likely to be released in the latter part of 2021. Fingers crossed that sometime in the coming months they’ll reveal a tighter release window. What do you think about this recent revelation about Battlefield 6?
