Big Age of Empires IV News Could be Unveiled at Gamescom Tomorrow

Finally Some News About AOE 4!

The highly anticipated Age of Empires IV has been relatively quiet despite all the hype it has garnered over the course of its development. The official Twitter account for Age of Empires has teased that they will be dropping some juicy info tomorrow via Xbox’s Gamescom stream. What exactly will be revealed? No one knows. All we know is that Age of Empires IV is in development along with Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition.

The release of Age of Empires IV will mark the end of a long absence of the series. The last Age of Empires game didn’t even come out this decade. The third installment of the series, appropriately named Age of Empires 3, was released in 2005. So it has been a very long time. And fans are chomping at the bit to relive the glory days of the series.

Hailed as one of the grandfathers of the RTS genre, the Age of Empires franchise is held in high regard by most fans of strategy games. AOE follows that classic style of gathering resources, building an army, and eventually destroying your opponents base to win the match. It’s old, but it works. We are not sure if the developers behind AOE have chosen to stick to this old school formula or not.

News pertaining to Age of Empires IV has been few and far between. Since its announcement at Gamescom 2017, there has been a total lull in any meaningful news about the game or where it is in the development stages.

If you are anxiously waiting for any news about AOE 4 then make sure to tune in to the stream. The Xbox Mixer stream goes live at 8 a.m. PT on Monday, August 19. This way you can see the news unfold live. Hopefully, something big happens!
