Uncover Family Secrets in My Dear Emma
German indie studio Soulven is bringing its narrative-driven adventure My Dear Emma to gamescom 2026, giving attendees a chance to experience the latest version of the game’s demo and meet the team behind it.
My Dear Emma is a calm, first-person adventure that explores grief, memory, family secrets, and the small moments that can shape a person’s life. Players take on the role of Emma, a 34-year-old biologist and nature photographer who is away on an international work trip when she learns that her grandfather has passed away.
After missing his funeral, Emma receives a package he prepared for her before his death. Inside are an old notebook, a map of her grandparents’ estate, and a compass accompanied by a simple note: “For Em.”
What initially seems like a return to a familiar childhood location soon turns into a personal journey through Emma’s memories and her family’s hidden history. As she follows the clues left behind by her grandfather, Emma begins uncovering parts of her past and questions that he seemingly wanted her to confront.
Gamescom attendees can visit Soulven in Hall 10.2, Booth D06, at “Indie Burg.” Visitors will be able to play the latest demo, speak with members of the development team, and learn more about the game’s story, development, and creative vision.
The team is also welcoming press, media, and content creators to drop by without an appointment. They also confirmed that a booth visit and demo session should take around 20 minutes.
For anyone looking for a quieter, story-focused experience at gamescom, My Dear Emma could be one to keep an eye on.
