Shenmue III’s First Gameplay Trailer Is Here
Yu Suzuki and Shibuya Productions just released the first gameplay trailer for Shenmue III at Magic 2019, a French anime and games convention in Monaco. It marks the first time that we’ve seen any gameplay since the game’s announcement back at E3 2015.
Suzuki, the game’s director, producer, and writer, made it a point of saying that the trailer is the “short version,” which means we should get even more footage soon. In addition, he said that there will be more gameplay trailers released in the coming months.
The trailer was shown during the “Shibuya Productions Crazy Time”, which is the final big event of Magic 2019. It involves event organizer and Shibuya Productions’ founder Cédric Biscay revealing the company’s projects.
Suzuki recently spoke about the team’s approach to worldbuilding in Shenmue III.
“I believe fans who have been waiting patiently for this game will enjoy the Shenmue-specific vibe and world-feel, which is different from any game out there,” he said. “I decided to go all-in with making the world-building distinctive. There are a lot of great open world games out there, but I don’t believe many, if any, are quite like Shenmue.”
Shenmue III is set for release on August 27, 2019, for the PS4 and Microsoft Windows.
