What Goes Around Comes Around
Do you remember Red Vs Blue? The first really big machinima series that used Halo: Combat Evolved? That was a little company called Rooster Teeth. RvB is still going strong 16 seasons later. Six years ago Rooster Teeth broke out onto the anime scene in a major way with RWBY. RWBY has since gained fandom all over the world and has inspired the video game RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. Rooster Teeth has also branched off into other YouTube channels such as Achievement Hunter, FunHaus, Cow Chop, Screw Attack, and The Know, who broke the story. With Rooster Teeth Gaming, the company plans to release their first original IP game this year: Vicious Circle.
As reported on The Know, Vicious Circle is a “multiplayer first-person shooter set in a sci-fi, gritty, comic book universe”. Right now, the only look we have of the game is this art. On the right, we have a Yondu-meets-Avatar-looking guy, in the middle there’s a D.Va-if-she-was-Krang, and on the left there’s Buzz Lightyear as a space marine. There’s also a purple crystal chick. The description given above is very reminiscent of Overwatch. Again, no news about any single-player element like a campaign or story. It looks like it will be multiplayer focused. Vicious Circle is slated for release sometime in 2019.
In other Rooster Teeth news, they are premiering their new series gen:LOCK on January 26th. This show is bringing some huge names to the cast. Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed), Dakota Fanning (Man on Fire, I Am Sam), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), and David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) are all confirmed to have roles in the show.
