WayForward Officially Reveals RWBY: Arrowfell at RTXatHome

Introducing: Team BRIR

For almost a year now, we have known about a new RWBY game being developed by the studio behind the Shantae series, WayForward. It is being made in collaboration with Rooster Teeth and Arc System Works, and was officially revealed last week at Rooster Teeth’s annual event RTX.

This year, because of the ongoing pandemic, RTX was held virtually as RTXatHome, when the new RWBY game was officially revealed with a trailer. RWBY: Arrowfell will be a side-scrolling beat ’em up platformer, where you will play as the main characters of the series; Ruby Rose, Wiess Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long.

The main cast will be reprising their roles from the online series and other familiar characters, like General Ironwood will also appear. RWBY: Arrowfell will be introducing a brand new team of Huntresses, Team BRIR. Judging by the gameplay footage, players will be able to swap between team members on the fly, but it does not appear to show any co-op or multiplayer aspects at this point.

RWBY: Arrowfell takes place between Volume 7 and 8. RWBY is currently awaiting the premier of Volume 9. The game will feature cutscenes animated at the quality of the show, specifically for the game.

Arrowfell is not the first RWBY game to come to PC and consoles. RWBY: Grimm Eclipse is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and RWBY characters have crossed over into several fighting games.

RWBY: Arrowfell was intended to be released this year, but the recent reveal has set it for a 2022 release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
