PUBG Finds Success on PS4
PlayerUnknownโs Battlegrounds (PUBG) topped the PlayStation Storeโs charts as the most downloaded game of December 2018, according to an official Wednesday announcement.
Hereโs the rest of the chart:
- PlayerUnknownโs Battlegrounds
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Battlefield V
- FIFA 19
- Mortal Kombat XL
- Marvelโs Spider-Man
- NBA 2K19
- Madden NFL 19
This is somewhat surprising considering how lukewarm the critical reception was for PUBG on PS4. The port has a rating of 73 out of 100 on Metacritic and our review criticized it for being โa game that hasnโt changed an iota from the initial launch.โ
โWith so much competition, itโs very disappointing to find that PUBG is still buggy, looks horrible, and isnโt trying to keep up with the slew of contenders,โ our reviewer wrote.
โIn a time where Battle Royale is all the craze, raking in all that money and not bothering to try to keep up with your competition seems like a stupid idea,โ the reviewer also wrote. โConsidering PUBG creators sued Epic Games over [Fortniteโs alleged plagiarism], it becomes pretty apparent that the suit wasnโt over losing money, but out of spite that someone else was making a better version of your game.โ
