Master Chief Collection Update Brings New Skulls, Aiming Fix

The Master Chief Collection Returns with More Craniums Than Ever Before

343 Industries isn’t giving up on the Master Chief Collection yet, with today’s update bringing new skulls for Combat Evolved and an aiming solution for all titles.

The new skulls for Combat Evolved can be activated to spice up gameplay in a few different ways, check out the list here:

  • Anger – Enemies and allies fire their weapons faster and more frequently.
  • Bandana – Fixed a bug with this skull so now energy-based weapons have infinite ammo as well.
  • Catch – Enemies throw and drop more grenades.
  • Ghost – A.I. characters will not flinch from attacks, melee or otherwise.
  • Sputnik – the Mass of objects is decreased, making them more easily displaced
  • That’s Just Wrong – Strengthens the hearing of both allies and enemies. They will now notice the slightest sound of reloading or drawing a weapon, footsteps, etc. A.I. also have increased accuracy.
  • Thunderstorm – Field Promotions to the ranks of all A.I. characters so they are more difficult to fight, smarter, and more dangerous.
  • Tough Luck – Enemies always go berserk, always dive out of the way, and never flee.

Most, if not all of these, should be familiar to players who have been with the series for a while, as skulls have been around to alter gameplay since the original Halo 2.

There’s also a new feature called “Modern Aiming: that “helps to smooth out the aim acceleration zones on your controller by using values that are more like H2A and H4 than the older legacy titles.” Basically, you can make it so that aiming feels closer to that of recent titles, as opposed to the more sluggish aim of the series’ older games.

There’s also a bunch of bug fixes, playlist updates, and some vague details regarding a “Winter Takeover.”

The Master Chief Collection is currently available for Xbox One, including the platform’s Game Pass subscription service. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!
