Valve Lists the Most Controller-Friendly Games on Steam

But keyboard and mouse are the best…

Everyone has their preferred way of playing their games. Luckily, most PC games nowadays are controller-friendly and give fans options on how they play. For gamers who originate on consoles, this accessibility is wonderful when they are looking to play the PC exclusive titles. You may ask, how many actually take advantage of this opportunity? Well, there aren’t really an numbers publicly available, but Valve has announced the titles that are most often played with controllers. They have made lists for the popularity of Xbox One/360, PS4/PS3, the Steam, and the Steam Pro controllers. Where are the lists for dance pads though?!

Controller-friendly

The lists are broken down into sub-lists: Most Popular, Most Unique, and Local Multiplayer. Most Popular obviously refers to the games that the controller of its category spent the most time playing. The Most Unique list compiles the games where the controller was more popular than any other controller. This means, a game on the Xbox list was more popular for the Xbox controllers than a PlayStation or Steam controller. Local Multiplayer is a list of the most popular games where more than one controller of its category was used at the same time.

What games ranked where?

The games that appeared to be most played by controllers of any kind included Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls III, GTA V, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Dragonball Xenoverse 2. In the Most Unique categories, the Steam and Steam Pro controllers did not seem to be exceedingly popular with the heavyweight blockbuster games. The exception to that seems to be that the Steam Pro controller was the most popular for Monster Hunter: World. The big hits with the Xbox controllers are games of at least one year passed. Games like Skyrim, Saints Row IV, Just Cause 3, Borderlands, and Far Cry 4 were the most popularly played with Xbox controllers. The PlayStation controllers out performed the others in games that appear primarily for Japanese audiences. This makes a lot of sense given the popularity of the PS3 and PS4 in Japan.
