Metal Gear Solid Board Game Announced

Please Let There Be A Little Cardboard Box

IDW Games announced that a Metal Gear Solid board game is in development from Specter Ops and Century: Spice Road designer Emerson Matsuuchi.

Metal Gear Solid Board Game

In a press release, Matsuuchi stated “I’m probably the biggest fan of Metal Gear Solid. Ever since playing the first Metal Gear Solid, it has forever altered the way I view games. The story it told was so memorable and the gameplay experience so rich that it has shaped my expectation of games as both a designer and gamer. So the opportunity to bring this masterpiece to the table has been an honor and dream come true. I’m excited to be able to capture the tactical stealth action that is the hallmark of the franchise as well as create a new experience and story for the Snake fans. Age hasn’t slowed him down one bit.”

The game itself will be fully co-operative and include Solid Snake, Meryl Silverburgh, Otacon, and Gray Fox, and enemies will be controlled by a “highly dynamic A.I. system.” IDW also promises sandbox gameplay and multiple ways to complete missions. Miniatures are being designed by Franceso Orru, and art by comic artist Kenneth Loh who has worked on TMNT, G.I. Joe, and Ghost Rider. The game is set to make it’s first appearance at E3 2019.

In other Metal Gear adaptation news, the movie seems to be coming along smoothly as this past Summer, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts opened up about the film’s script and challenges making a movie out of such a massive series. Let us know which adaptation you’re looking forward to more in the comments!
