Fallout 76 Isn’t Going to Launch on Steam

Bethesda Will Launch the Next Fallout Game on Their Own Platform

Fallout 76, a multiplayer RPG, isn’t going to launch on Steam, according to an official statement from Bethesda. Instead, the game will launch on Bethesda.net, which is the developer’s own digital platform.

“The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the B.E.T.A. and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam,” a Bethesda representative told PC Gamer in an email.

It currently isn’t known if this is a permanent decision or just a temporary one, though it seems like the latter is more likely. After all, Steam is a massive and well-known digital gaming distribution platform and many previous Fallout & The Elder Scrolls games are available on there so it would be surprising if this new Fallout game is never going to be available on Steam.

Also, Bethesda could’ve made this decision in an attempt to get more people to use Bethesda.net and they might eventually bring Fallout 76 to Steam some time after its release on November 14th.

In other Fallout 76 news: any progress made in the upcoming beta for the game will carry over to the full game, according to an official FAQ.
