Yakuza Kiwami 2 Remake Demo out Now on PSN

Kazuma Kiryu Is Back in Full HD In Yakuza Kiwami 2

For anyone who has yet to dip their toes into the Yakuza series, then this may very well be the best time to start. The new demo for Yakuza Kiwami 2 has just been released onto the PlayStation Store for all to download.

Yakuza Kiwami 2

Originally released in the West on the PlayStation 2 back in 2006, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is has now been re-imagined from the ground up using the new Dragon Engine, which was originally debuted in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Yakuza Kiwami 2 has been out in Japan since last December, but is set for a worldwide release on August 28th for PS4.

The game features fan favourite mini-games from previous Yakuza games (as well as a urinal mini-game), updated versions of the Cabaret Club simulator, and Clan Creator, as well as the new ‘Majima Saga’, which revolves around Goro Majima in his own playable adventure, revealing events that happen prior to Yakuza Kiwami 2.

The story, for anyone not invested in the series, is described on the PlayStation store:

“One year after the 10 billion yen incident, Kazuma Kiryu begins to build a peaceful life with Haruka Sawamura. Tearing him away, an assassination threatens to erupt in an all-out war between the Tojo Clan and the Omi Alliance.

“Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima, must travel to Sotenbori, Osaka in an attempt to broker peace between the rival clans, but Ryuji Goda, known as the Dragon of Kansai, will stop at nothing to get his war. In this world, there can only be one dragon.”

It also appears that Sega has learned from its previous mistake by not including the full game in this demo, like it did for Yakuza 6, which our reviewer gave a high score.

Have you played the original, or are you going to try out the demo for the first time? Let us know what you think!
