Xbox One Players Will Be Getting the Miramar Map in May
After a recent panel at PAX East, Xbox’s Director of Programming Major Nelson, and Brendan Greene (Mr. PlayerUnknown himself), subtly announced that PUBG’s Miramar map, or the desert map, will be dropping onto Xbox One this may.
Though Mirarmar has been available to the PC version of PUBG since December, the game is still in an early access stage on Xbox. As of now, only the basic map, Erangel, is available on the Xbox One version of PUBG.
PUBG Corp. have yet to provide a specific release date for the map, though it should be announced soon. This news comes off the shoulders of the recent PC testing for PUBG’s newest jungle map, Codename: Savage.
The map itself replaces the first map’s green fields and forests for a more western feel with desert plains, mountainous terrain, and a sprinkling of islands. The lack of trees means a slight lack of cover, with players preferring massive boulders to tree trunks.
As shown in the picture above, the map is still similar to Erangel in size, being 8x8km. Some players are against this, however, as they feel the map is too too open, leading to many players running around for half of the game before the even find anyone. Which may be the inspiration for Codename: Savage, which is 4x4km.
There are a few weapons and vehicles that are unique to this map only, which some Xbox players are undoubtedly excited for; such as the Winchester rifle. There’s also a two-seater jet-ski added to Miramar, to allow players a faster, more convenient way to hop from island to island.
Are you looking forward to PUBG finally releasing its second map onto Xbox, or is there something else you wish they would work on first? Let us know!
