The Series Just Had Its Best Launch in the UK in Terms of Sales!
Far Cry 5, the fifth mainline game in the Far Cry series and the first one to be set in America, had the best launch in terms of series sales in the UK. According to the UK sales chart, Far Cry 5 debuted at the #1 spot of the sales chart and topped other recent releases such as Sea of Thieves and A Way Out.
It should be noted that the sales chart only tracks physical sales not digital ones.
We gave Far Cry 5 a score of 90 out of 100 in our review of the game and our reviewer, Paul Sullivan, loved its story, gameplay, characters and stunning graphics. “If you’re itching for a hootin’ and hollerin’ good time with the good ol’ boys and gals of ‘Murica, look no farther than Far Cry 5,” Sullivan wrote. “The solid core of the game provides a perfect vehicle for a nuanced and thought-provoking story in an underused setting.”

Meanwhile, Sea of Thieves had a pretty solid second week in terms of sales. The open-world multiplayer pirate game landed at the 3rd spot on the UK sales chart and was reportedly the most successful first-party Microsoft title of this console generation.
However, our review of the game wasn’t very positive. Sea of Thieves was given a score of 65 out of 100 and our review described it as “surprisingly shallow.”
“Despite its shortcomings, Sea of Thieves’ current state serves as an outstanding foundation from which to build,” wrote our reviewer, Garrett Drake. “After all, the game is intended to grow and evolve in time, and I’m confident that through their plans and player feedback, Rare is capable of molding Sea of Thieves into something remarkable.”
A Way Out dropped five spots down from the 2nd spot it debuted at two weeks ago but was still in the top 10 in terms of UK sales at the 7th spot on the chart. You can read our review of the game here.
