The First Game Mode on the PUBG Test Servers Adds Eight Player Squads
It seems PUBG will be getting some newer game modes to spice up its gameplay, similar to Fortnite’s limited-time game modes, with periodically changing preset custom games. These modes, the developers add, will allow them to try new things and experimenter with different game parameters.
These modes will different from the regular battle royale experience which PUBG currently offers. The first game mode announced allows players to queue up to form a squad of eight people, instead of playing in the usual Solo, Duo, or Squads (which is normally a group of up to four people).
The new eight-player mode also offers up double the spawn rate for assault rifles, which is one of the different game parameters the developers want to mess around with in these game modes. Though these changes are fairly simple, the developers want to test out the basics of the new system before adding anything fantastical.
However, this first iteration of the Event Mode will only be featured in the Third-Person Perspective game modes, and also on the Erangel map, which is the first map that came with the game.
The developers, and the players, seem very excited with what these new game modes can add to PUBG. Adding in their blog post that ‘The Future of the Event Mode holds exciting things’
Also announced in the same blog post, PUBG will be getting a new gun when the update goes live!
Though nothing has been said about the gun’s stats, the flare gun is one of the next features that will soon be added to the game!
