New Call of Cthulhu Trailer Aptly Portrays Lovecraftian Madness

Come Join the Riveting Mythos of Lovecraft and Dance the Dreamer’s Dance of Madness in Call of Cthulhu

Call of Cthulhu may serve one of the most faithful video game adaptations of Lovecraft lore. Throughout our coverage of this title, developed by Cyanide Studios, we’ve obtained screenshots, teases, and a synopsis. Thanks to this latest trailer, we get a good look at how the final product is coming along. And and it looks darkly magnificent. But you can see it for yourself:

For those who aren’t aware, or are newcomers to Call of Cthulhu, you play as a detecitve in a world fast-growing strange and darkening around you. Here lies the synopsis:

“A Private Detective, Edward Pierce is a mission to find the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island. Pierce is used to trusting his instincts, but with whale mutilations and disappearing bodies, this is only the beginning as reality becomes skewed. As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see.”

This trailer also reveals much more than we suspected about Darkwater Island. Initially it was revealed that, as a detective, you would investigate strange disappearances. Classic clue-based gameplay provided the mainstay, but the story might lead players into a more complex adventure. Perhaps added mysteries, unexplained phenomena, and eerie events shall ultimately lead to the reveal of the Dreamer himself. So far we’re just getting teases of Him, but that’s all we currently need. So long as the mystery and horror elements hold up, we’ll have an exciting new IP in our hands.
