Raiders of the Broken Planet; AAA Production, Unbelievably Low Price
Enric Alvarez is the Studio Head over at MercurySteam and Dave Cox is the studio’s Senior Producer. At a recent meeting with WCCFtech at Gamescom 2016 they discussed what we can expect from Raiders of the Broken Planet, their online asymmetric multiplayer adventure that was announced around four months back. We won’t see a release in 2016 but we will have the opportunity to get in on a PC beta this September (SIGN UP HERE). Following that there will also be beta runs on both PS4 and Xbox One.
During the interview, Alvarez and Cox explained how Raiders of the Broken Planet would be using a Seasons style model. Inside of each Season we’ll see four to five specific missions, characters, and storylines and we’ll get to see them at a locked 1080p at 60fps. Of course, that’s for the consoles specifically and the PC build won’t be limited in any capacity. When asked about price they both hinted a price so unbelievably low for a AAA level production that gamers will be stunned. What that number is they won’t say yet but it’s encouraging that they’re looking to come in low and more affordable.
If you just popped in and have no idea what Raiders of the Broken Planet even is, let’s clear that up for you. It takes place in the Lira Constellation on a broken planet. On said planet is a “powerful ability enhancing substance called Aleph,” the discovery of which attracted “intergalactic scum and criminal lowlife.” The criminals wish to control the substance, and in doing so, control the universe. Gameplay will feature players fighting off the invaders in teams or working with the invaders by shooting, brawling, and using strategy.
