Shovel Knight DLC Details Surface, Along With Physical Version

Yacht Club Has Big Plans For Shovel Knight

Yacht Club confirmed more details on their next batch of DLC for Shovel Knight, which will be the sought after Specter Knight campaign. The new Shovel Knight DLC campaign will follow a similar format to Plague Knight’s, featuring new characters and enemies, and a whole new way to play the game. Specter Knight is looking to be a much more mobile experience compared to previous entries, with air dashing, wall-running and unique attacks that help set them apart from his knightly compatriots. He also has an ominous “Darkness” meter, along with his “Will”, which appears to be his life meter. How these factor into gameplay remain to be seen, but with how fresh of an experience Plague Knight was, we’re not worried about what Yacht Club can produce. As with the previous campaigns, There will be new feats and challenges for Specter Knight, with Yacht Club teasing that “Similar to our last update, we’ll probably go overboard too.”

That wasn’t all the news they had however. They have some other updates in the mix, such as the final Knight campaign, where we will play as the pompous King Knight, in all his flashy glory. We’ll also get a unique gender-bender mode, swapping all male characters to female, and vice versa. Lastly, there is also plans for a Battle Mode for PC and Consoles, where you can square off with your friends for true glory. Yacht Club promises all this Shovel Knight DLC will be free, whenever it hits, but that’s not all that they had to reveal.

Lastly, the handsome/beautiful/amazing folks at Yacht Club were creating a full on Physical Version of the title for the Vita, complete with snazzy boxart. It’s a nice nod to a console whose fanbase has been a bit neglected, to say the least, and to see Yacht Club extend a bit of a special treat their way is a very pleasant surprise. The physical copy will contain all the content released so far, and all updates going forward will be able to be downloaded to be played via the cartridge, so those who opt in get the full experience as well. The physical version can be ordered via their link to Fangamer.
