Wartile Video Review
Strategy games may not be for everyone, but they don’t get enough credit where credit is due. While there may be a number of copy-cat titles out there, the scope of unique and varied strategy game styles is impressive, so trying to create something fresh is quite admirable. Playwood Project’s Wartile is a strategy series that takes visual elements of classic table-top gaming and blends it with real-time strategy in a unique form of chess-like combat.
With nicely detailed boards and plenty of upgrading to be done for your units, Wartile sets itself apart from the standard experience of strategy games – however, does that make it a worthy game? Check out our video review below and see for yourself.
Wartile is a 3D strategy game mixing elements of classic table-top and strategy games. Players will select their units with a variety of skills and travel across a hexagonal-grid board in an attempt to vanquish their foes. With a number of upgrade options and chess-like strategy to employ, Wartile has all the right makings of a successful and wholly unique strategy game, however, it falters with a lack of any solid story – an odd note considering the heavy use of Norse mythology. The gameplay feels a bit too easy for the strategy enthusiast, and with a lack of challenge comes a lack of interest.
Wartile is available now on Steam. For more information, check out the games official website.
