NBA Live “The One” Preview
2K has a stranglehold on the NBA video game world. I am not telling you anything new. They’ve had years to master their craft. If this was a race, it wouldn’t even be close. Yet, EA Sports isn’t ready to throw in the towel quite yet, not even close. Last year, the NBA Live franchise made some serious strides. Sure, they never even took a slice from the 2K’s market-share but the little franchise that could slowly gained some respect in 2017. Improved animations and gameplay made for a game EA Sports could be proud of. After some playtime with NBA Live 19 at the EA Sports Summer Showcase, one thing is for certain, momentum is on EA’s side as Live has taken yet another leap forward. Or at least it appears that way from my brief playtime with the game.
At the EA Sports Summer Showcase event last week, we had a chance to check out NBA Live 19 and a new mode called The One. In this mode, you get a chance to take your player from nobody to legend status. Here is a first look at The One in this exclusive COGconnected video (see above).
The One, as you would guess, has a slick player progression and lots of customizable options. You’ll play in street courts, unlock gear and progress your skills and abilities. There is a lot of meat on this “The One” bone and it’s impressive to say the least. Players feel great on the court and the visuals look tight. Sure, there is still plenty of room for improvement and there is no question the dev team has made gains this year.
The NBA features players with diverse playstyles and The One will allow you to customize your entire playing experience. From your playstyle to your gear, The One will let you tailor that experience and it is pretty cool. It is an addictive mode that is hard to put down. I am excited to see more when the game drops in September.
