It’s been a pretty damn good year for gaming, and 2018 blew us away with a number of jaw-dropping titles featuring some of the best looking graphics and design we’ve ever seen. Whether it be realism or fantasy, pixel art or 2D, the competition for the all-around best looking game of 2018 was unquestionably fierce. Our first place winner for the best looking video game of 2018 is Marvel’s Spider-Man, which merits praise for its incredible suit detail and animations, as well as its smooth movements and beautiful execution of New York City and its many varying districts. It is obvious that the amount of attention given to all of the aesthetic and technical elements of the game were painstakingly scrutinized, and it certainly paid off.
Following closely behind in second place is Red Dead Redemption 2, which also boasts gorgeous detail in textures, environmental design and lighting. The realistic wildlife and lifelike characters display over 300,000 unique animations, and aesthetically this game is one of the finest we’ve ever seen.
Some of the other runners-up for the Best Looking Video Game of 2018 include God of War, Celeste, Tetris Effect, Detroit: Become Human, and Ni No Kuni II. What are some of your picks?
