5 Things About Watch Dogs 2 That Have Us All Gitty
There is no question the original Watch Dogs game was about as well received as an Adam Sandler Netflix movie. Ouch! Okay, maybe not quite that bad but I am not far off. The general consensus was that Ubisoft’s original IP was a let down. It had a ton of potential but it ultimately failed to live up to expectations. Instead of packing it in, Ubisoft say they have listened to the fans and promise to come back stronger with Watch Dogs 2. After some playtime with the game at E3 this year, once again there is plenty of reason for optimism. The difference this time is the hype is legit.
1.) It’s Vibrant And Fun
The original Watch Dogs game was set in a rainy, drab and dreary environment. It was just so god damn depressing. Watch Dogs 2 is the very opposite. The game (or the demo at least) is bright, colourful and vibrant. San Francisco is beautifully rendered making for the perfect environment for our hacking hero. If you’ve seen the reveal trailer you’ll know exactly what I mean. San Fran looks stunning and will surely be the perfect playground to hack our brains out.
2.) New & Improved Abilities
Watch Dogs new hero, Marcus Holloway, has swagger but it isn’t his attitude that really stood out during the demo. It is the many and I mean MANY new abilities at your disposal. You can hack nearly everything in the game. Everything from cars to phones to traffic lights, there is plenty of hacking and plenty of fun to be had. The missions we played involved hacking into buildings, distracting enemies and causing absolute mayhem. It was awesome and the possibilities are endless. If I had one complaint about our hero’s abilities is that he has so many of them it can make for a confusing control scheme. Even 30-minutes in I never felt like I had a handle on the controls. It is definitely a game you’ll need to spend some serious time with in order to get acclimated with the controls.
