Journey to the Savage Planet – PC, PS4, X1 – Jan 28
Journey to the Savage Planet does not appear too savage, at least on the surface. The game is a first-person adventure game set on an uncharted planet. With scarce resources, players are tasked with determining whether the planet is suitable for human habitation. With elements that seem relatively familiar when compared to other titles, Journey to the Savage Planet is at the very least, an intriguing title with potential to be a hit, especially at a relative lull in releases.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore – Switch – Jan 17
Originally released as a WiiU exclusive in 2015, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is an enhanced port of the title that was highly anticipated due to its crossover origins between the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei franchises. While the game plays somewhat similarly to the Shin Megami Tensei games, more specifically its Persona line, the game’s Fire Emblem portions were a bit lacking. It would be best described as its own game rather than being compared to the two franchises. As a WiiU exclusive, the Encore edition of the game will expose more players to the game, especially as both source franchises have grown since the original release.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot – PC, PS4, X1 – Jan 17
There is always great optimism whenever a Dragon Ball game is released, and there is usually a fifty-fifty chance of whether the game is good or not. Until the game is released though, it is hard to tell which side of the fence Kakarot will fall on. This open-world Dragon Ball Z game will feature large areas as well as a significant portion of the story, allowing for multiple playable characters besides Goku. While there is more to learn about the game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot may very well be the biggest new release of January 2020.
