Ranking The Top Five Announcements From Nintendo at E3 2018

3. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Nintendo fans have long been loyal to the iconic Fire Emblem series, and bringing it to the Switch was an absolute must. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a turn based tactics game with some of your favorite and the most iconic characters of the Fire Emblem series rushing into glorious combat. Not much was announced about the gameplay itself, however the footage looks spectacular, giving the players a real sense of commanding powerful generals among their army. This was a great reveal by Nintendo and we can’t wait to find out more.

2. Pokeball Plus with Mew

When Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee were announced a short time ago, classic fans who grew up with the original games were floored; this is the kind of game we have been dying to see for over 20 years. It wasn’t the announcement of the game itself that left us awestruck at this E3, but learning more about the Pokeball Plus. We already knew it would function like a Joy-Con, what we didn’t know is that each one would sell with a Mew inside! Players will not only receive the legendary Pokemon on purchase of the item, but they can swap out whatever Pokemon is in the ball and take it with them, with their digital companion finding items and gifts in your travel. You can even shake the Pokeball Plus to hear the Pokemon’s cry. We then learned that the device will also function like a Pokemon Go Plus device, allowing you to catch Pokemon in your travels. This is some massive functionality and for the diehard Pokemon fan this is a must.

1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Announced

I’ll give you a moment to wipe the tears and drool from your face. There was concern by pessimists that this would be a port of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and how wrong they were. If you haven’t heard the unbelievable announcement yet, here it is: Every character. Every stage. Ever. Whether they had a onetime appearance or were DLC, every single character that has appeared in the Smash Bros. franchise will be playable, enhanced and rebuilt, in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This was almost enough of an announcement on its own to be more than satisfied with the latest entry, and then – being Nintendo – they dropped the bombshell. Inklings in Smash? Awesome, but we saw it coming. Daisy as a newly christened Echo Fighter? That’s cool. RIDLEY IN SMASH?! Fans have been clamouring for this for ages and not only has it finally happened, he looks and plays phenomenally. That not enough for you? How about a Ridley Amiibo to go with it!

While the Nintendo event was short, they sure knew how to go out with a bang! What did you think of our top five list? Do you agree? Are you as excited about Ridley as we are? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, or the Comments section below, and be sure to keep it locked here on COGconnected for all things E3 2018.
