Earth: Pharaoh Man
Yes, I know what you’re thinking. How is Pharaoh Man even remotely an earth type of robot master? We’ll he’s not, but frankly all the other more normal rock/earth types are generally pretty boring slugs, lumbering around in brown stages of boredom. Pharaoh Man does have a brown stage as well, but instead of being boring it’s filled with mummies and other Egyptian themed minions. He’s got a great design and his bossfight is a fun one, except when he occasionally gets stuck. It’s hard to have a list of best Robot Masters and leave him out while include someone like Gutsman, just because.
Cutting: Metal Man
Did anyone really expect Metal Man not to be here? From a great stage filled with conveyor belts to an outfit that makes him seem like some kind of extremely demented dentist, Metal Man is THE robot master. Some may call his weapon broken, I prefer to call it awesome. Low ammo usage, multi directional and powerful as well, you could be excused if this saw more use than the Mega Buster in Mega Man 2. The look, the weapon and the stage all line up to be one of the most iconic robot masters out there. This category is pretty stacked but honestly, no one else really had a chance in comparison to Metal Man.
Just Missed the Cut: Blade Man, Shade Man
With all due respect to the robot ninja fans out there, Blade Man manages to rise up above Shadow Man when it comes to playing second fiddle to Metal Man. From a great boss fight to an even better weapon, Blade Man would make the list in nearly any other category. Shade Man is another one of those unique designs. The vampire bat puts up a good fight and his stage is reminiscent of Ghosts ‘n Goblins.
