September 2025 was an insane month for quality video game releases. Somehow, October might be even bigger. We had to do three runners-up this month. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D is a package of the first two Dragon Quest games, and a sequel to last year’s JRPG hit Dragon Quest III HD-2D. Mina the Hollower is Yacht Club Game’s first non-Shovel Knight release. It’s a Legend of Zelda-inspired top-down adventure game. The Outer Worlds 2 is Obsidian Entertainment’s first-person CRPG sequel to The Outer Worlds. There are also plenty of other games that would have made it in the top 5 any other month, so stay on the lookout for future COGconnected reviews. 5. Battlefield 6 – October 10
Battlefield 6 is a first-person shooter, and the 18th game in the long-running Battlefield franchise. It’s been four years since the last Battlefield game, Battlefield 2046. That game reviewed very poorly, so Battlefield Studios regrouped, and spent a long-time developing Battlefield 6. Hopefully their efforts pay off. COGconnected’s reviewer actually really enjoyed Battlefield 2046, so hopefully this newest series entry uses its best parts, and eliminates all its flaws. If Battlefield 2046 had better reviews, Battlefield 6 might have ranked higher on the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in October 2025. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
4. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – October 21
Although it didn’t seem like the day would ever arrive, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is finally releasing October 21 2025. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a beloved CRPG from 2004. It didn’t sell well initially, but received acclaim for its writing, and has been recognized as an all-time great in the years since. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been in development since 2016, and has even changed developers. Hopefully the long development period results in the sequel fans have been waiting for. A game with this much anticipation has to be included in an article like the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in October 2025.
