5) Redfall (May 2, 2023)
It’s hard not to get excited about Arkane Studios new upcoming open-world, story-driven shooter Redfall. Not only does it look insanely cool, but it comes from the developer behind some awesome games like Prey and Dishonored. The gameplay looks amazing, the combat mechanics are smooth, and the destruction of vampires in Massachusetts is just the icing on the proverbial cake. Play alone or with friends in the small town of Redfall where you fend off the vampire legion. There’s 4 unique characters to choose from, all with different loadouts and abilities, and all totally awesome. Will Redfall be the end of you or will you kick those vampires to the curb? In less than a month we can all find out.
4) I.G.I. Origins (2023)
When you think of the Cold War it’s likely synonymous with conflict and covert espionage. Of course that’s exactly what I.G.I. Origins is all about. It’s a tactical first-person shooter where you’ll be the master of your own world. It’s a prequel to Project I.G.I, which came out almost 23 years ago, in 2000. Organize and complete each of your missions against your enemies that want to nuke the entire world. How quickly can you adapt to a constantly shifting hostile world? And will you be able to stop world war? If you’re to succeed as Michael King, an ex-SAS soldier, you’ll have to find a way.
3) Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (May 26, 2023)
Some really great superhero games have released over the last few years. These include Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Gotham Knights. Mix that with the success of the Suicide Squad movies and there’s not much room for doubt that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be a huge hit. What’s even better is that this will be an open-world game based in Metropolis where the Suicide Squad will face off against the DC Super Heroes. The graphics are stellar, the traversal and combat systems look incredibly fun and it’s all made by the developers behind the Batman: Arkham franchise. Need I say more?
2) Hyenas (2023)
After watching the trailers Hyenas looks incredibly intriguing. Think Saints Row meets Sunset Overdrive. And then add mechanics from Titanfall or Lawbreakers. Mix and add a little “spice”. It looks both chaotic and really fun. It’s a hero-based multiplayer extraction shooter where the objective is to steal enough Merch and escape the ‘Plunderships’ via extraction point before the rival team completes this first or the “MURFS” stop you. Hyenas offers a perfect blend of ridiculous gameplay, frenetic gunfights and zero gravity combat. It’s bright and colorful, and maybe just a tad ridiculous (in the best way). With a large variety of weapons at your disposal will you take on the enemy teams and loot the “Plunderships” until your heart’s content?
1) Starfield (September 6, 2023)
Back in 2018 Bethesda Game Studios announced Starfield, a new futuristic space action RPG. In Starfield you’ll join the last group of space explorers, Constellation, and discover rare artifacts around the galaxy. It’s not exactly a shooter at first glance but it does rely heavily on weapons to explore the solar system and new planets. Of course that’s because you can’t be too sure what kind of intergalactic monsters are hiding in the shadows. The graphics are crisp, the movement and combat are smooth like butter and it’s Bethesda’s most ambitious game to date. Starfield is one of the most-anticipated games of the year too which definitely makes it our number one here!
