Xbox Series X and PS5: Top 10 Franchises That Need To Come Back

Castlevania

It has been roughly 6 years since the last Castlevania game (Lords of Shadow 2), and its probably time for another one. While the franchise has influenced many games since, such as Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Castlevania has not had a proper sequel either third-person over-the-shoulder or in a classic “Metroid-vania” style. One of Konami’s prized franchises, Castlevania could see a decent resurgence, especially with its splendid Netflix animated series currently running.

Suikoden

JRPGs are making a comeback of sorts with Final Fantasy, the Tales series, and Dragon Quest making waves. Add in NieR, Ni no Kuni, and a bevy of other titles and its clear that JRPGs are more of a thing this current generation than it was last. If there is any time to bring a JRPG series back, it’s right now. Suikoden, another Konami darling, is among the classics with its first two entries, and another foray into the franchise may be just what Konami needs alongside another Castlevania title.

NBA Street

You can substitute this entry with the likes of NFL Street, MLB Slugfest, or even FIFA Street. Arcade-like sports titles with licensed players have been pretty much relegated to second-tier modes in existing franchises. However, there is likely a solid market for those looking for a less serious take on their favorite sport. While some games may pop up here or there, nothing compares to the games of old. Whether it be any of the major sports, a “Street” version of these games would be a welcome addition, especially in the age of battlepasses or in-game updates.
