COGconnected GOTY 2025 – Most Anticipated Game of 2026

COGconnected GOTY 2025 – Most Anticipated of 2026

December is upon us, which means it is time to get into COGconnected’s Game of the Year awards, with this article dedicated to our most anticipated titles of 2026. The industry is always looking forward to the next big game, and while some of the biggest hits come seemingly out of thin air, there are always a number of titles that we are already eagerly anticipating.

10. The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

Although the name leaves much to be desired, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales comes in at number 10 on our list of most anticipated games. This HD-2D title comes from the team behind the Octopath Traveller games and Live A Live, but now the title is action-based rather than turn-based. Interested parties can take a look at the game’s demo, which is already available.

9. Onimusha: Way Of The Sword

Onimusha marks a triumphant return for a franchise that hasn’t had a mainline entry in ages. Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s release follows remasters of Onimusha: Warlords and Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny as Capcom continues its run of quality releases across various franchises.

8. Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement was the supposed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night sequel, which actually turned out to be a prequel. Legendary developer Koji Igarashi looks to continue building the Bloodstained franchise with another entry, and we look forward to seeing how the franchise continues to grow.

7. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

When a new Marvel fighting game is revealed, people take notice. Add in the fact that it is being developed by one of the best fighting game studios in Arc System Works, and you can see exactly why Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls ranks among our most anticipated games.

6. Crimson Desert

When first revealed, Crimson Desert looked almost too good to be true. Unlike the studio’s MMORPG in Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert is a stand-alone single-player open-world action-adventure title. What looked too good to be true was the title’s seemingly ability to add every mechanic one might think of when thinking of open-world titles.

5. Resident Evil Requiem

Since the release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Capcom and the Resident Evil series have been on a generational run of new releases and remakes. Resident Evil went from a forgettable entry with Resident Evil 6 into a franchise with one of the most anticipated games in Resident Evil Requiem.

4. Fable

The Fable franchise has been a personal favorite of mine, and we can’t wait to see how Playground Games handles being given the keys to the franchise. With most of their experience being with the Forza Horizon series, we’re keen on seeing how the studio puts their own spin on Fable’s DNA.

3. 007 First Light

IO Interactive, of Hitman: World of Assassination repute, now has the keys to the James Bond franchise, and it looks like it may just be a match made in heaven. We look forward to seeing the latest James Bond title take shape with everything that IO Interactive has learned.

2. Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac Games has been holding it down for PlayStation with a healthy flow of Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank titles. They’ve done such a great job with Marvel’s Spider-Man that they’re now entrusted with Marvel’s Wolverine, a standalone entry that shares a continuity with Insomniac’s Spider-Man games.

1. Grand Theft Auto VI

Was there any doubt as to COGconnected’s Most Anticipated Game this year? Grand Theft Auto VI has been one of, if not the most anticipated game, since it was first announced, and maybe even before that. Rockstar Games doesn’t miss, and we can’t imagine that they’re going to start with Grand Theft Auto VI.
