Xbox Series X and PS5: Top 10 Franchises That Need To Come Back

Perfect Dark

One of the best N64 shooters and later an Xbox 360 launch title has become a dormant franchise despite being generally enjoyed by most. While the sequel did not live up to the bar set by the first game, Perfect Dark is a Rare title that could be a big boost to the Xbox ecosystem. The game does not need to remain an FPS either, as Joanna Dark shows some third-person chops in Perfect Dark Zero, and her character is not necessarily a shoot-first type of character. Either way, the Xbox could use some big franchises in its future, and Perfect Dark could fill that stealth-action niche.

Dead Space

Resident Evil will be the first to tell you that third-person over-the-shoulder horror games are back in season. While Resident Evil is returning to its former glory, fans have not forgotten about the Dead Space franchise. Though Visceral Games is now defunct, EA has a bevy of talented studios that could potentially do the Dead Space franchise justice. While many fans want to “Make EA Skate Again”, we’d love to wield that sweet plasma cutter once again.

Burnout

One of the most fan-favorite racing franchises, Burnout has been without a new major entry for years at this point. Criterion Games is still in operation, and there is no reason why another Burnout game cannot release in the future. With its classic takedowns and almost legendary Crash Mode, Burnout would undoubtedly make its mark in an era where consistent, quality racing games are scarce aside from the Forza franchise.

Midnight Club

Remaining within the genre is Midnight Club. While Rockstar is swimming in its Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 success, fans of the developer have been clamoring for another Bully title, or even Table Tennis. However, one quality franchise remains dormant: Midnight Club. With a more “arcadey” approach to racing with a focus on street racing and tuning, Midnight Club would undoubtedly compete with the Forza Horizon series, though perhaps with even less focus on the simulation aspects.
