7. Rocket League
Rocket League not only brought a new element to competitive sports by making the soccer players vehicles instead, but it became the pioneer title in Cross Network Play. Gamers have been dying for the chance to play their favorite games with their friends despite having different consoles and Rocket League is the benchmark that shows the public it can be done.
Rocket League is making its Nintendo Debut on the Switch, and in classic Nintendo fashion, the game will also feature some Nintendo exclusive customization options as well as unique vehicles. The game will also support the established Cross Network Play with the added bonus of having the Switch’s full mobile function.
6. Pokemon Coming to Switch
I would have put this entry higher on the list if Nintendo had given us literally anything more than an off-hand casual comment. But at least they confirmed what we all wanted: Nintendo Switch will be receiving a core RPG game made just for the Switch itself. Although Nintendo has stated it most likely won’t be available for quite some time (At least another year if we are lucky) it is nice to know we aren’t all crazy and hoping for something we will never get.
5. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The meme’s have already begun, but you have to admit there is some truth to them: Bethesda can continue to re-release Skyrim and we WILL buy it. Skyrim is making its way to the Switch with a few slight adjustments that might make it worthwhile for the Nintendo fanboy to give it another look.
A number of gamers have picked apart the background footage and the general consensus is that Skyrim on Switch will in fact be the Special Edition version of the game, with enhanced graphics and all DLC included. The game will also feature Amiibo Functionality, by which players will be able to unlock Link’s tunic from Breath of the Wild, the Hylian Shield, – and of course – wield the Master Sword. This leaves a number of questions as to what else could be in store but at the moment, this looks like a much bigger deal than we were first led to believe.
4. Metroid: Samus Returns
Samus Aran returns to her roots in this spectacular looking 3DS outing! With classic side-scrolling action, some slick graphics, and some intense combat, Metroid has returned in full swing.
Metroid: Samus Returns is bringing back the gameplay we all know and love with some very nice updates that will surely leave 3DS fans eager to jump back into the power suit and shoot anything that moves. As mentioned earlier on this list, Metroid: Samus Returns will feature compatibility with the all new Metroid Amiibo that have been announced. Seeing Samus return to handhelds with a proper game (*cough* Federation Force *cough*) is going to bring a much sought after powerhouse to the 3DS library.
