The Bad

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is the beginning of a new narrative for the Destiny franchise. With a new story, Bungie decided to make changes, and none of them were for the better. Our reviewer wrote “Edge of Fate has a few gimmicky new mechanics: Matterspark, Mattermorph, and the Relocator. I actively disliked all of them right away”. They found Edge of Fate to have way too many gimmicky puzzle elements. Unfortunately for Destiny fans, Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate was the lowest scoring game in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games August 2025.

Drag x Drive

Drag x Drive is Nintendo’s first real attempt at e-sports. It’s a 3v3 basketball game, where the player characters are on wheels. The game looked bland, and it turns out that it is visually unattractive. Our reviewer noted “A major concern is the lack of progression. With no levelling system or leaderboards, there’s little incentive to return”. It’s also lacking any Nintendo charm. Drag x Drive scored 64/100, making it a likely candidate for The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games August 2025.

Robots at Midnight

Robots at Midnight is a short, budget Soulslike. Our reviewer enjoyed it, but it doesn’t have much depth, and it’s over in a handful of hours. They concluded “There isn’t a ton of replay value thanks to its limited systems, weapons, and enemies. The combat and bosses are undeniably fun, but I kept wishing the mechanics had a little more depth, and the world had more detail”. But the price is around $20, so it might be a good bite-sized option for Souls fans looking for something light. Robots at Midnight scored a respectable 68/100. It’s in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games August 2025, but there have been months where it wouldn’t have been.
