The Three Best and Three Worst Games of April 2019

The Worst

Weedcraft Inc.

Not all the games that end up on this list are actually that bad. Sometimes it was just a good month, or a somewhat empty one. While Weedcraft Inc. presents a pretty decent tycoon-style management simulator, it doesn’t stand out in any meaningful way, and it most likely won’t find itself on the shelves next to Tropico and SimCity. As we said in our review, “Fans of either the subject matter or the genre may find value in the game, but for those who rarely venture into the genre, the game may not be the best introduction to it.”

Exocraft

Exocraft is self-described as a game where you “design unique ships and grow the ultimate space mining fleet as you battle for resources and glory” in a massively multiplayer action strategy setting. Unfortunately, our reviewer found that “While the aesthetics of the game are decent, like the graphics and the music, this feels and plays like a Flash-based mobile game. Both the mining and game mechanics are a real grind that doubtless will deter most players from digging too deep.”

Grimshade

Grimshade is an RPG that tries to follow the formula of compelling characters and a narrative to match. True to the genre, there are lots of choices as you follow a man stranded in the forest and his new amnesic child friend, but the combat was repetitive and the story didn’t carry its flaws. We said, “Sadly, the negatives outweigh the positives due to the fact its incredibly story dependant, meaning you can get lost easily mid-quest if you are not invested in the story. The combat is predictable and there are game bugs that will make you restart the game and by extension the battle itself. Lastly, the choppy visuals are a little tough to digest.
