Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2: Essential Tips & Tricks to Get Your Wheels Rolling

The Wall Plant is Your New Best Friend

If you’re going to be pulling off combos that reach into the millions, you’ll need every trick in the book. Grabs, flips, and grinds are all fantastic ways to build a score and increase your multiplier, but the wall plant is what’s going to save your tail. Many of the manual special moves bring your movement speed to a crawl, and if you’re stuck in one spot, your combo isn’t going to last long. But, get yourself to a wall, hop towards it, and push off to get a big boost of speed. Be sure to experiment with all of the different ways you can utilize wall plants.

Don’t Sleep on Create-A-Park

I’ll admit, I’ve never made use of the park building tools in past THPS games. They’ve always felt clunky, unintuitive, and incapable of creating levels that equaled those from the developers’.  But, the ‘Create-A-Park’ feature in THPS 1+2 is tremendous. The number of toys you have to play with is nearly overwhelming, yet, the interface is easy to pick up and use. The creativity that the community has already shown is astounding, so if you aren’t sold on becoming a world-builder just yet, you’ll have an obscene amount of content to inspire you until then.

Switch Stance Will Earn You Extra Points

This is a good one if you’re looking to maximize the rewards from your runs. By hitting your switch stance button and skating on the opposite footing that you normally do, everything you pull off is worth extra points. This is a stellar way to quickly build combos when vying for gold medals in the competition levels. The only catch is your stats are knocked down a peg when skating like this. Jump height, hang time, flip speed, and everything else will be slightly affected by the goofy stance.
