And while it offers a decent sized single-player experience, it’s the online and local multiplayer modes that’ll keep you coming back for more.
4) Super Mario Party
“So many of the nominees are good for their own reasons, but Super Mario Party tears relationships in half like wet paper and that’s what good PVP games should do.”

3) Overcooked 2
“So hectic and exciting with pals, Overcooked 2 builds on what the original did by adding extra complexity and wackiness. It’s super satisfying to bang your head against a mission a couple of times, but then magically click with your pals and rock a3-star performance.”

2) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
“They found the balance between accessible and aggressive where no one else could. Beers, food, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate make for a perfect Saturday night. Just don’t let beer muscles ruin it.”

1) Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
“Treyarch and Activision really put their best foot forward here, focusing on the multiplayer side of their game and making it amazing. Blackout is a fantastic addition to its arsenal and the multiplayer feels brand new and revitalized, which is a tough gig considering this is a franchise that has a yearly release. The shooting still feels great, and getting back to what made this series addictive was a very smart move.”
One of the greatest first-person shooter franchises of all time is back with their annual release – this time resurrecting their beloved Black Ops franchise for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Sure, we were all a little ticked off when they announced there wouldn’t be a single player campaign. But what really keeps us playing Call of Duty? The multiplayer, and daaaaaamn, the multiplayer in Black Ops 4 is just awesome. Whether it’s the classic multiplayer featuring a collection of specialists that each feature abilities to turn the tides of battle or whether it’s the brand new and arguably the best battle royale mode from any game, Blackout – Black Ops 4 has it all and does it very, very well. Oh, and it brings back the surprisingly popular Zombies mode too – if you’re into that kind of thing.
