The Wildest Dreams
The Full Reveal of The Next Xbox
We’ve already learned some juicy details on the Next PlayStation (apparently, we’re not calling it the PlayStation 5… yet). So, it stands to reason that Microsoft is just itching to show off what they have in store for gamers with the Next Xbox. The question is, how long will they make us wait? The most likely scenario: we won’t see a full reveal until E3 2020 with a release date of Fall 2020. However, if our wildest dreams were to come true, we’d get a full Next Xbox reveal at E3 2019, with a release date of early 2020.
The Initiative
At last years E3, Microsoft announced studio after studio joining their ever-growing army of developers. But the most intriguing one was the creation of The Initiative. We haven’t heard much about them lately, aside from them scooping up some talent that previously worked on PlayStation exclusive games. In our wildest dreams, we get a teaser of what they’re working on.
Forward Compatibility
What if Microsoft announced that you’d be able to play Next Xbox games on your Xbox One? Sure, they might be slightly downgraded versions, but for gamers that lack the means to buy a new console, the ability to still play Next Xbox games by streaming them on their Xbox One would be incredible.
Microsoft Joins The Battle!
Microsoft and Nintendo seem to be playing nicely lately, so, this one might not be as far fetched as one would have thought a few years ago. Imagine a Microsoft/Nintendo partnership which would add a full expansion to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch. This would include at least five Microsoft owned characters as playable fighters, with five new levels, and new Microsoft property-inspired customization options, spirits and music. We’d bet on Master Chief, Minecraft Steve/Alex, the Battletoads, Banjo Kazooie and Conker showing up as fighters. This expansion would be separate from the current Fighters Pass that Super Smash Bros Ultimate has, but we have little doubt Switch owners would gladly pay for a second Fighters Pass if it included this Microsoft expansion. And no, we are not suggesting Smash Bros in any form would show up on an Xbox console – this would be a one-way deal, but Microsoft would likely benefit by taking a share of the Fighters Pass profits.
And that concludes our wishlist for the Microsoft press conference at E3 2019. And with Sony forgoing their press conference, Microsoft has a huge opportunity to make a massive splash on the gaming scene this year. We’re pretty confident at least a few of our wishlist items will come true. There’s less than a month to go until E3, so excuse us as we spend these last few weeks dreaming away at the possibilities!
