Microsoft’s “The Initiative” Scoops Up More Sony Talent

Another Strong Developer Joins The Initiative

Microsoft seems to be building some kind of super-developer with their new studio “The Initiative,” and their latest addition to the team had a hand in one of last year’s biggest games.

The studio’s latest catch is level designer Chris O’Neill, whose resume includes last year’s Game of the Year winner God of War, along with the series’ preceding games God of War 3 and Ascension, and some time with Kojima Productions working on Metal Gear Online. Looking a little further back, O’Neill also worked with Seven Studios, where he worked on a DS and PSP game based on the cult hit film Napoleon Dynamite, and The Sopranos: Road to Respect for PS2.

Just to recap, Chris is joining a pretty stacked lineup including Rockstar’s Technical Director Tom Shepherd, Red Dead Redemption writer Christian Cantamessa, and God of War 2018 producer Brian Westergaard. Sufficient to say, I’m pretty interested in seeing what comes out of this studio.

It sounds like Microsoft is still in the recruiting process of building up The Initiative, let us know who you’d like to see join the team in the comments!
