More God of War, But It’s Not What You’re Expecting
To the surprise of literally no one, God of War 4 is coming. The the surprise of literally everyone, it looks reasonably innovative. Kratos gets the hook, replaced by an equally badass usurper war god in the opening moments of the game, and who has a skill set completely different from boring ol’ Kratos. The refreshed gameplay looks and plays Bayonetta-awesome, and showgoers are literally drooling over it.
Accuracy Index: Definite maybe.
Bonus: Couch co-op with player 2 as Kratos, and zero quick time events.
A Whole New Galaxy of Possibilities With Andromeda
Andromeda has its full day in the spotlight, and boy howdy does it look incredible. It gathers up a mountain of Best of Show awards, and appears to fill the promise the original game strove for. Limitless exploration with clever radiant quest design and a powerful story are major highlights. Phones ring off the hook at Gamestop with pre-order requests.
Accuracy Index: Solid chance.
Bonus: All revealed squad members have like-for-like analogues in the original trilogy.
Halo 6, The Windows Store Trojan Horse
We all know it’s coming. The real news is the form. Microsoft leans hard into their unified Xbox/PC initiative, and Halo 6 lands on both platforms simultaneously. The PC version is of course only available in the Windows store – following the current trend set by Quantum Break – and gamers worldwide facepalm in unison. The game looks great though, raising the stakes even higher than episode 5.
Accuracy Index: It could happen
Bonus: The game actually features Master Chief most of the time.
No Elder Scrolls 6
The Elder Scrolls 6 goes unmentioned by Bethesda at the show. I mean, clearly they’ve been working on it for years, but it isn’t even close to being done, and Bethesda has a bunch of other cool stuff on display.
Accuracy Index: All but confirmed
Bonus: Elder Scrolls easter eggs show up in several other Bethesda demos.
