This $300 Dark Souls Watch is Punishingly Amazing

Artorias the Abysswalker Model Watch Dark Souls Impressions

Elden Ring has been all the rage so far in 2022. It’s an easy Game of the Year favorite and I have a hard time envisioning any game beating it. I know, it’s early and we aren’t even halfway through the year. Yet, it’s sitting at a 96 Metacritic score (77 reviews in), making it one of the highest-rated games of all time. It goes without saying when I was given the opportunity to check out a Dark Souls watch, I jumped all over it. I mean without Dark Souls, we would not have Elden Ring, so the timing felt right to check out a timepiece from the Dark Souls universe.

Out of the box “Artorias the Abysswalker Model Watch Dark Souls” is a stunner. Unlike many other SuperGroupies watches, it features a unique blue strap made of nylon material, which is a direct reference to Artorias’ (one of the four knights of Gwyn) cape texture. It’s unlike any other watch straps in the vast SuperGroupies collection. At least none I have personally checked out.

It looks great on my wrist and love the way the blue contrasts with the grey and dark tones. My wife took a real liking to it as well. She’s not a fan of SuperGroupies thick leather straps so the smaller blue design was right up her alley.

Like other watches in the collection, it’s all about the small details and the little ways the watch pays tribute to Artorias. The main dial features etched patterns taken from Artorias’ armor. It’s a self-winding watch guaranteeing about 36 hours of use when fully winded. It has three subdials: GMT subdial (9 o’clock), small seconds (3 o’clock), sun & moon display function.

The sun & moon display is visible through a small crack on the main dial which is supposed to remind you of Artorias’ experience on the battlefield. It’s all very subtle and specifically designed with hardcore fans in mind.

The main dial has a unique 2-layer design where if you look at the 6 o’clock position you can see some of the inside mechanisms of the watch. The back of the case is etched with the inscription “Artorias the Abysswalker” and you can also see some of the inner workings of the watch from the back as well. It looks brilliant and I could stare at this watch for hours.

It’s also water resistance rated at 5 ATM. This means it is suitable for withstanding short periods of water immersion, such as light swimming. A nice little perk I wasn’t aware of going in.

Whether you are a watch collector or someone looking for a beautiful timepiece for all occasions, this Dark Souls watch is super sharp. It’s ideal as casual wear, but I would not hesitate to wear it during formal gatherings. Dark Souls fans can wear this watch with confidence. It’s a wonderful watch that pays tribute to an iconic Dark Souls character. Granted, it is one of the more expensive pieces in the SuperGroupies collection of watches but it’s well worth the price of admission.
