1. The Elder Scrolls VI
I can end the article with this sentence. The title that needs no introduction, The Elder Scrolls VI, “the one you keep asking about,” was announced at E3 2018. The effects of this announcement are hard to put into words, at least human words. While we were presented with nothing beyond the title and a small glimpse of the setting, excitement for Bethesda’s next iteration of Elder Scrolls is propelled by several generations of master-crafted RPGs. We only get one every several years (and a re-release every now and again), which leaves that much more time for anticipation to grow. So, when Todd “the god” Howard finally revealed that the game was in development on-stage at E3, the crowd’s hype levels soared through the roof. The announcement was all the more surprising since it followed the reveal of Starfield. Understandably, Howard could have revealed his studio’s new IP and called it a day, but he decided to stir the flames of excitement the moment people least expected it. And for many fans, it’s the single argument for why Bethesda won E3 2018.
These are the standout surprises of E3 2018, the reveals we weren’t expecting and left us happily waiting for more. Being in the know, it’s hard to surprise me, but— after some analysis of each presentation—these are COGconnected’s determined rankings. Is there any reveal, in particular, you would add, remove, or replace? Out of all the presentations this past week, which one surprised you the most? Feel free to comment down below.
