With the ability to play with up to 9 others, it’s time to amass a crew, grab some mead and embark on a grand adventure.
4. Monster Hunter Rise
What’s better than slaying monsters? Slaying monsters with pals! The Switch exclusive, Monster Hunter Rise is an epic quest through a fantastical world. Tasked to protect your homeland and the surrounding wildlife, you must venture into the green and eliminate beasts before they reak havoc on the community. With the ability to complete missions and hunts co-operatively, this is a great way to enjoy the RPG and salvage some valuable materials.
3. Destiny 2
Destiny 2 is 4 years old and it’s still smashing it. With an ongoing number of additions, the game has managed to maintain a huge player base and it’s understandable why. 2021 saw a massive improvement to the seasonal storytelling by adding new cutscenes, returning characters and much more. Due to this, Bungie has successfully developed the lore of the world, which is something fans have craved. If you haven’t been back on Destiny 2, now is the time to do so.
2. Mario Party Superstars
Collecting a selection of boards and games from earlier releases, Mario Party Superstar is essentially a ‘greatest hits’ of the franchise. Gone are the motion-based controls that have been shoehorned into recent iterations. Placing traditional gameplay at the forefront, this is a perfect family-friendly experience that includes modern functionality that elevates it over previous releases. With the ability to suspend games and continue at a later point, as well as online play, Nintendo has managed to create one of the finest entry in the series.
1. It Takes Two
Taking our top spot is the incredible It Takes Two. Created by the immensely talented, Josef Fares, this combines elements of his previous efforts to build a captivating experience. Combining the heart and relatable narrative of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and the co-op-focused gameplay of A Way Out, It Takes Two is a sumptuous game that explores relationships and family in a truly imaginative way. This is simply an essential title and we at COGconnected voted this as the best game to play with a friend in 2021!
