3 Up, 3 Down – The Best (and Worst) Games from March 2017

The Best and Worst From March 2017

Spring Break is over, the days are getting longer, opening day is just around the corner and the countdown is on for E3. As we inch closer to the big show, it’s also the time of year where we start to see those good old E3 “leaks” surfacing across every gaming website worldwide. These so-called “leaks” can get annoying but let’s face it kids, it can also get everyone pretty ramped up for the big show. That said, it’s still a little early to be talking about E3. So before we start making all those E3 plans, it is time for our monthly recap where we identify the worst and best games from the previous month. Let’s jump right in without messing around.

The Best

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This was an easy pick. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received a perfect score from us and for good reason, it is simply amazing. I cannot recall the last time a single game was worth buying a new console alone but that is absolutely the case with Breath of the Wild. Right now, Nintendo is firing on all cylinders. The Switch is selling like hot cakes and Breath of the Wild is the ‘must-have’ game for Nintendo fans. Breath of the Wild is nothing short of a masterpiece and stands as an early contender for game of the year.

NieR: Automata

This is yet another game that delivered in more ways than one and we cannot recommend NieR: Automata enough. You know your game has hit the big time when you already have nude mods surfacing in the wild… In all seriousness, NieR is an interesting meld of open RPG, twitch action, platformer, and bullet hell shooter. With so many great games released so far this year it’s easy to forget about this gem. Don’t let this be you and give this game a shot.

Night in the Woods

We love it when an indie game comes out of nowhere and manages to capture us in more ways than one. Night in the Woods is this year’s Firewatch for us. It’s an indie masterpiece. Sure, it may not appeal to everyone, but if you are an adventure, Metroidvania, sandbox, 2D platformer, or point-and-click fan, then you need to do yourself a favor and play this interesting, moving, hilarious, and fun experience.
