3 Up, 3 Down – The Best (And Worst) Games From September 2015

The fall gaming season can be an exciting time for everyone. Check that, the fall season IS without question an amazing time for gamers. September releases usually kick-off the busy holiday rush where week after week ‘Triple A’ titles drop like Jason Pierre-Paul’s index finger. It is also the beginning of the onslaught of dog titles. With every fantastic game there are usually a few stinkers to go with it. This past month was no exception as we saw some brilliant unforgettable games and some others we cannot forget soon enough. We reviewed almost 40 games at COGconnected, so it was a busy month for us while we launched our new spiffy site. The fall rush is only getting started and September definitely started off with the bang, so check out our best and worst from the past month.

The Best

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Multi-Platform)

If you were to say Phantom Pain is hands down the best game of the year (before the year is even over), I wouldn’t argue with you. This entry into the mega-hit franchise was superb in every way. With its amazing open world environment offering you an endless amount of ways to play, Phantom Pain is a game we can all get lost in. Even after 100 hours into the game, there is still plenty of reason to keep going back. Even if you haven’t played past Metal Gear games, Phantom Pain is a great place to start. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Blood Bowl 2 Review (Multi-Platform)

I recognize Blood Bowl 2 isn’t for everybody. Madden fans won’t be ditching their game anytime soon for this one either. This being said, Blood Bowl 2 is just so much fun! As we said in our review, “the animations are visceral, and the buildup of suspense knowing that any hit could remove your player from the game, or remove him from existence, keeps you on edge”. It isn’t a perfect game by any stretch but for the excitement factor alone, Blood Bowl 2 nails it.

Forza Motorsports 6 (Xbox One)

Is Forza Motorsports 6 the best racer in the business? I think so. With each entry, the franchise keeps getting better. Forza Motorsport 6 keeps that trend rolling as everything from the amount of cars to the visuals is absolutely fantastic. This Gear-Head’s delight is jam packed with so much goodness it will make your eyes pop out of your head. The addition of night and wet-weather racing was wonderfully executed and almost worth the price of admission alone. Forza Motorsport 6 is the definitive sim/circuit racing experience to own on a console and I don’t think anything else comes close.
