The Worst
Hover

Inspired by Jet Set Radio, there was hope that this Kickstarted-backed racing game would fill the footsteps of its hero, but sadly, it just wasn’t a lot of fun to play between finicky controls and a consistently terrible camera angle. Chock full of content and featuring some music by Hideki Naganuma, we said in our review that it “feels like there was a lot of potential with Hover, and I wanted to like it, considering how much of a fan I am of Jet Set Radio.” Sadly, it just didn’t fill its shadow.
Namco Museum Arcade Pac

The thing is, these games aren’t bad (or some of them aren’t), but they’ve been released and rereleased over a plethora of consoles over the last decade or so, and at some point, it gets old. While Namco Museum Arcade Pac offers a fun multiplayer mode in the form of Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, the price point doesn’t seem worth it. We said, “If you’re a Namco fan, you’ve almost certainly bought these games several times before. If you’re not a Namco fan, these games will likely fail to resonate with you.” Not terrible, but let’s be honest, probably not worth it.
The Midnight Sanctuary

The Midnight Sanctuary is a visual novel set in early 20th century Japan, where 2-D textures meet 3D models in a surrealist religious adventure. Unfortunately, the somewhat interesting story just couldn’t overcome the poor graphics, and even though it ended strongly, the payoff wasn’t worth it. I said in my review, “slogging through 3-D models that could have been traditional visual novel artwork for a story that only kicked into gear in the last thirty minutes just wasn’t how I wanted to spend my day.”
