6. Practice Your AimÂ
Not only in the practice range or an aim trainer. Headshots are an important part of Overwatch and can separate a deadly player from an average one. It’s important that you practice your aim in real matches though. Practicing on aim trainer or in the shooting range will not prepare you for real player movement.Â
Despite maybe being able to nail standing targets pretty fast, this won’t mean you are ready for a real game. Instead, during real matches work on predicting player movement, work on flicking to get headshots, and not panicking during a fight.Â
7. Learn the Maps
Of course, Overwatch 2 has a whole list of maps. Each of them have a fairly standard layout. However, what can give a player an advantage is learning chokepoints, sniping positions, and flanking paths. Understanding the map and where enemies are most likely to be will help new players immensely.Â
Having a fundamental understanding of the maps will help you with character selection, positioning, and even getting kills.Â
8. Play With Your Team
Unlike other FPS games, Overwatch 2 is intrinsically team based. Though it may always be tempting to try hero plays and pop-off in a match, you’ll always find more success working with the team. Play around your allies abilities, mark enemy movement, and use call outs to the maximum advantage.Â
Additionally, use the team chat to call out enemy cooldowns, health, and positioning. By doing all of this, you will learn to work closely with your teammates and are much more likely to win games.Â
9. Learn to Keep Track of CooldownsÂ
This is a skill that comes with playing. Of course, there are so many abilities flying around during a team fight. However, if you can remember that Reaper has used his wraith form, or that Genji’s dash is down, you’ll be more likely to find kills. Additionally, understanding enemy cooldowns will allow you to shift the pace of the battle.Â
For instance, you and your team will understand when it is safe to advance or when you should give the enemy some space. This sort of mindset will also help you to learn how to “bait out” abilities, letting you learn to play around the enemies strongest characters.Â
10. Have FunÂ
Try to keep in mind at the end of the day, this is a game. Though you may get some, less than nice, teammates sometimes try not to get to angry. Overwatch comes with a huge learning curve to new players with a lot to take in. You’re learning and one of the best ways to learn is to actually enjoy yourself. So, remember to have fun and enjoy the time you spend learning to improve at Overwatch 2.Â
