3 – Remember When MTV Played Music? Well GHTV Follows In Its Footsteps!
GHTV is GH Live’s Online Multiplayer Component. Consisting of two music channels at launch (with a third to follow later on), the service allows players to play along to music videos and live shows. At launch the service will feature 200 songs and be updated on a weekly basis.
The service is subdivided into three different parts:
- Music Channels
- On Demand Service
- Premium Shows
The music channels consist of one Rock and one Modern Hits channel that play music 24/7 much like MTV back in the day. There is a programming guide that allows you to see what shows or programs will be coming on for the week. One channel may show a half hour indie rock program, followed by a metal show. GHTV also features an on-demand section that lets you choose and play any song you wish on the entire GHTV library. The third aspect of GHTV is the premium shows that feature a live show or performance by a specific band. To date Activision has announced a premium show for Avenged Sevenfold and the Black Veil Brides. The Avenged Sevenfold show will consist of three songs from their headlining set at the 2014 Download Festival
4 – You Technically Don’t Need to Pay Extra for Anything
Technically you don’t have to pay for anything on the service. Playing the TV channels is completely free and you earn in game currency called coins as you play through the service. Using the coins you earn, you can buy plays for the on-demand service. If you don’t have enough coins, you can simply purchase plays for the on-demand section using real money. The on-demand section also allows you to buy a Party Pass for $5.99 US for access to all songs on the service for 24 hours. It’s important to note that the party pass does not include Premium Shows. Premium shows can be unlocked one of two ways. Each premium show has a number of set criteria that is required to unlock it. For example, achieving three stars on three specific songs. If you want to bypass the pre-requisite you can simply pay for the Premium Show using real cash.
5 – You Cannot Buy Songs Outright Like You Can in Rock Band 4Â
No, you cannot buy songs outright like in Rock Band. Instead you can just buy plays of a song.
6 – Coins Are Your Online Currency in GHTV
In addition to purchasing song plays, coins can also be used to unlock note highways, gems, player cards, Hero Powers and more!
